Business Attire Hasn’t Changed Much
Dress for the job you want
I have to be the 1800th person to tell you, “Dress for the job you want”. It may sound cliché, but it’s absolutely true. Style and grace are eternal, but fashion is always changing…however, business attire have not really changed much. Over the decades, work styles have typically shared these four characteristics: somewhat conservative, flattering, tailored and comfortable. Your work styles can even be aspirational, meaning they allow you to dress for career woman that you are working to be.
What to wear to work?
Although the tasteful above the knee skirt and bare legs can work, some of you are breaking the workplace dress code. It’s key that your work attire look as if you’re coming to work, not the club. At StyleFollowsHer.com, we urge you to take pride in your appearance. First impressions are lasting impressions.
Glamour.com recently published “4 Work Style Rules Just as Relevant Now as They Were 50 Years Ago” inspired by Edith Head one of the most iconic costumers ever. The rules of style and fashion are still relevant today as they were 50 years ago.
Here are a few of my fav work styles for today’s #StyleFollowsHer modern woman. I hope these come to mind the next time you ask yourself, “What to wear to work today?” For more style idea for the professional woman, retail websites from Express and Kohl’s have at-work style sections dedicated to helping you find business attire that fits your style, budget and of course, helps you dress for the job you want!
