Around the Town
Even though Desoto is a small city outside Dallas, Texas, it known for it’s laid back and comfortable community. However, there is a hidden treasure that will satisfy even the pickiest Fashionista. I was so excited when I received an email to attend a Pre-Valentine primp and pampering at the House of Dasha.
This boutique is like shopping in the Galleria without the crowds. Chile. I can’t stand crowds.!!! The minimally designed space allows for an easy overall shopping experience. House of Dasha provides a one-stop-shopping experience for all of the fashion jet-setters out there. Think of everything from unique layering pieces, beautiful accessories, cosmetics, to great date night ensembles.
The evening began with a movie star makeover by Letitia Owens. As I sat in the make-up artist’s chair with Letitia , I was firmly grounded and ready to be beat honey. The process began with a foundation base from Dasha Cosmetics and emphasizing my eyebrows with a broad brush. Then a light powder was used to highlight the area under my eyebrows and eyeshadow was applied boldly . Then she transformed my face with the Boo Boo Kitty Lipstick by Dasha Cosmetics. I ain’t trying to be Cookie!!! On to the fitting room!! Did I mention she carries plus size, yes darling she does. I have been a little self conscious here lately about my weight, but when I was trying on the garments I felt absolutely amazing. I felt like Johnny Gill was in the room, because I slipped on a red midi prom dress with a African print clutch to accessorize it, I was really feeling myself.
Wait!!! No one told me I was getting ready for a photo shoot!! Say what? Yes, honey!!! Extreme Works Studio, had me twisting back and forth like Naomi Campbell!!! What an amazing evening!!!
Now you all know, there’s not much I can do without eating. I couldn’t say this at the beginning because it would only make me hungry and I’m trying to watch my figure honey. But loves, Miss Felicia was there! WHO?? Chef Felicia Guinmont of Southern Best Catering, the banana budding was absolutely amazing. She has the magic touch when it comes to food.
The evening didn’t stop there, after we received our Pre-Valentine Glam Over we headed down to one of the area’s best Jamacian Kitchen and Bar, located at 309 W Jefferson Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75208. Jamaican cuisine is a melting pot reflecting the various cultures that have influenced the island over the years. The best way to experience true Jamaican cuisine is to travel down to this amazing Kitchen and Bar. Live music, patio seating, upstairs dining are some of the small details of this amazing establishment. Aside from flavorful jerk chicken or pork, the menu is dominated by hearty meals that draw on local ingredients. , fish including saltfish and codfish are prepared in a variety of ways. Please don’t just take my word for it, come on down and enjoy yourself.
