Spring is near, and soon we’ll all be preparing to vacation or staycation with friends and or family. If you’re like me, you never pass up an opportunity to lounge around in sweats with your hair in a messy bun, but you never pass up an opportunity to ‘go glam’ either. Whether you’re going on a quick three-day getaway or a seven-day cruise, packing for vacation is a daunting task. It’s hard to find a balance and not over pack. We want to look our best, but traveling with too much luggage can be a burden. The chances of things getting lost, broken, or possibly tossed out by TSA are elevated when you’re traveling. So and makeup isn’t something that you want to take too much of.
I like to travel light. Not everyone is, and that’s OK. We’re going to get into some tips and tricks on traveling with makeup and how to save space using different organizational tools, if you desire.
HAULIN’ IT ALL
A rolling makeup case is perfect for professionals and anyone needing to dedicate an entire piece(s) of luggage to makeup. They come in a variety of sizes, so you can get the size that best fits your needs.
Most of us aren’t going to be dong anyone’s makeup but our own while on vacation, but there are still some key items in our routine that we aren’t willing to sacrifice while away. Try a roll up makeup bag.
NO SPACE TO WASTE
Some of us focus on maxing and relaxing during vacation. The only reason we are taking makeup at all is because it’s just natural to have powder, blush, liner, mascara, and lipstick at minimum. Makeup bags come in various sizes, and shapes for ease of storage.
Skincare is a priority over makeup for me, so I am willing to use more space ensuring that my cleansing products are packed and will minimize the makeup products I take.
Cut back on space by packing a foundation (or foundation like product) that already has SPF and Primer in it. Smashbox has formulated their BB Water and BB Cream with SPF and Primer.
Urban Decay NAKED Palettes are good for simple day time looks that can easily be taken up a notch into a night look. My new go to is the NAKED Smoky Palette. Some palettes come with both eye and cheek colors. The Fashion Fair COLORDAZZLE Palette has 20 eyeshadow colors, and it also comes with 6 cheek colors.
Pencils don’t take up too much room, pack a hand full, and use them to add a pop of color to your look. Skip the falsie’s and choose mascara that gives your lashes the best volume and length. Keep your blush neutral, and grab a neutral and one or two vibrant colors for lips.
Here is a little nugget that you may not know about. Coconut oil. There are over 100 uses for coconut oil. In short, it can be used as makeup remover, moisturizer, lubrication, hair oil or sealant. It’s also anti-bacterial and anti-fungal and all natural.
Enjoy your trip!
