“Get the Glow” Skincare Secrets Revealed

By  |

Skincare is important, and it can double as me (spa) time and a pampering session too -talk about a win-win situation!

Whether your routine is au natural or not, knowing your skin type and taking care of it accordingly is beneficial and has lifelong effects. Climate change, air pollution and your day-to-day environment also contribute to the need to have a routine that includes exfoliation. The type of exfoliation you should use is determined by your skin type. Once you get that down it’s all about finding the product or products that best suit your style.  Let’s get into some.

Simple. Effective. Natural.

A simple, yet effective facial exfoliant is coconut oil (y’all know I love some coconut oil), sugar and the juice of a lemon. Rub the mixture on your face for about one minute, then use a warm towel to take it off.

If you still want a natural exfoliant, but not too keen about making the scrub yourself, I was recently introduced to Beauty by Earth’s Superfruits and Chlorophyll Facial Scrub. It’s a 2 in 1 cleanser and scrub, the smells amazing and I love that it leaves my skin tingly and refreshed.

Alba Botanicals’ Pinapple Enzyme facial scrub is another exfoliant I’ve tried and liked. It  can be found in Target and other local grocery stores that carry natural products

Brand Loyalty and Easy to Find

If you’re not mixing up your own personal concoction, whatever brand you’re using will have an exfoliation product, if not multiple ones. Drug store and department store brands offer basic exfoliation solutions that can be done at home several times a week.

For over a decade my go -to beauty brand for skincare was Mary Kay. I used the products as a teenager and well into adulthood.  My favorite product within the TimeWise collection is the Microdermabrasion (ok, I love any exfoliation product but this isn’t a typical scrub). The beads are granulated so tiny, once you get into it and finish the results are heavenly.

What The Pros Knows

Derma planing is a manual exfoliation technique using a custom dermaplane blade. But, what is a derma plane treatment and what are the benefits? Lonice explains that, ” Dermaplaning is a safe manual exfoliation method that scrapes away dull, dead skin and peach fuzz (vellus hair) and reveals a brighter, lighter, more even squinting – the best kept secret for glowing skin!”

I have normal to dry skin and my personal experiences with dermaplaning have been amazing! It’s refreshing, rejuvenating, and my skin is radiant with a youthful glow -honey this skin is smooth like butta’! I love it!
