Glamorous Conqerors Surviving in Style at GlamCon 2017
- GlamCon 2017
October 2017 has been an explosive Breast Cancer Awareness month thanks to GlamCon! We have all been to Breast Cancer Awareness conferences and seminars, but you have never experienced a Breast Cancer Awareness Expo like this! Style Follows Her in conjunction with the Pink Peppermint Project Inc. brought Founder, Shantquilette Carter-Williams’ dream to life on Saturday, October 7th, 2017 at Lofty Spaces in Dallas, Texas. The GlamCon event, a non-stop, interactive, action-packed a day for Glamorous Conquerors, Breast Cancer Survivors and people all around! With moving parts in every segment, from the pink carpet to the main floor speakers and workshops, to the glam suite, to the message interaction room, to vendor booths, to live interviews on the outdoor patio and a mobile spa and salon!
The Glam Suite
No enamoring glamorous detail left untouched, survivors and conquerors enjoyed a true #survivinginstyle2017 experience (as its coined hashtag proclaims) in the Glam Suite! A full day’s access to complimentary salon and spa services, pink carpet interviews and photo opportunities, and gifts!
There was an Aveda team of twelve providing hair and nail services, three MUAs painting faces, Facial Ecstasy was in the house providing facials. Hand, neck, and body massage therapists from Massage Integration provided mini massage sessions, henna art by Mango and Mandala, as well as a mobile spa and salon! Every person in attendance enjoyed a bountiful spread from OMG Cakes and Southern Catering, and left with swag! There was even a fifteen minute Zumba segment conducted by Joy Raas, to keep blood pumping!
The Main Floor
On the main floor, Ms. Letitica Owens kicked off the show, and if you have EVER experienced her as an event host, then you know that it was a stand on your feet, take a selfie, use a hashtag, fist-pumping good time! Rebecca Lopez, Letitia Owens, and Pastor Kitty Cochran blessed the event with a prayer. Pink Peppermint Inc. board member, Ashley Johnson delivered the opening remarks and explained that part of the proceeds from this event would benefit Bridge Breast network
Keynote, Karla Baptiste, a two-time breast cancer survivor and author of the breast cancer memoir Dig Your Heels In, shared her story of triumph and empowerment. Jeanna Doyle, medical aesthetician, and clinical oncology esthetician, also served as keynote and spoke to the audience about her new book Wig ED, and the importance of Aesthetics with cancer patients.
And the panel discussion with Charlotte Wilson, Dr. Lawanda Gladley, Dr. Kat Smith, Tara Dunsmore RN, Michelle Fitness, and Pastor Tanya Baker, moderated by Erica Ellis was invigorating. They tackled subjects that included assistance for caretakers and spouses, to the importance of seeking professional counsel in your time of need.
Leah Patterson facilitated meditation and words of encouragement that helped maintain the positive energy in the room and assisted in winding down and finding peace and balance. Pastor Tanya Baker closed out the event with prayer in rememberance of Glamorous Conquerors who are no longer here with us.
