Natural Lifestyle: Cleaning Without Chemicals
QUEEN OF CLEAN
About 1 1/2 months ago after my memorable trip to Puerto Rico, I began a journey to natural living. I’ve found keeping things simple and natural is not only safe for me and my allergies but it also gives me a great sense of satisfaction. Living more in-line with nature is all about making better choices every day. One of my biggest challenges to living green is cleaning the home. In fact, I can hear my granny in the background saying, “if you’re not using bleach it ain’t clean”. In fact, many of the most popular cleaning products are toxic, it’s true!! Also, my allergies are the devil and using harsh chemicals has done more harm than good.
I mean there is no way to avoid chemical exposure totally, but you can do yourself the honors and try. I know it can sound intimidating and even expensive, but trust me it’s not. I believe there is a purpose for everything natural on this earth, God made sure of it. Did you know Vinegar can be used as a safer bleach alternative for some applications, like cleaning? Though, it can’t kill harmful bacteria, is still a great all-purpose cleaner. Hydrogen peroxide and vinegar, and even salt and vinegar will cut down on some level of foodborne bacteria. Though you still may need a little bleach, please use it in moderation (don’t forget your mask). So are you ready to tackle a day of cleaning without harsh chemicals? Combining essential oils, baking soda, and vinegar is a great way to start. You’ll become a cleaning powerhouse. Keep reading for my cleaning recipes.
