- Capsule Collections – Capsule collections became popular in the 1980s by Donna Karan. These collections include a few staple pieces that showcase a designer’s signature style. You’re able to get staple pieces at an affordable price due to mass manufacturing. With these lower cost versions, you can get the prestige of the high end designer without the high-end costs. Many times the lower cost brands are trendier items, but you still get to own something from a high end designer.
